If gritty bars are your thing, then The Cross Keys is for you. We stopped in a few times while we were in town. Nothing fancy on tap, but this cavernous with lots of nooks and crannies draws in large groups. It feels a lot more like a sports bar than a pub, but we didn’t see any TV screens. But it has a great location in the heart of things and is probably worth a pint or two, if “real ale” is your thing.
