Making Our Mark On Denmark

Signals from ShEvo - Newsletter #5

(Just in case you aren't subscribed to the newsletter...)

Out of the country and into the city! Where we were with maybe a few hundred, we now find ourselves in a city of a million or more. It's a welcome change!

We've arrived in Denmark!

Getting here was interesting, to say the least, and I'm not a big fan of all-day travel days. It started last Wednesday super-early in the morning (at least for me, 5:30a is super-early) with an hour drive to the train station through pretty heavy snow, then a three-hour train ride to spend four hours walking Paris (yes, you read that right) before we were off to the airport, then a fairly brief plane ride to Copenhagen, the train (two, because we got on the wrong one at first) to Kokkedal, and finally a brief walk with all of our stuff to meet our new hosts. It ended around 10:30p, with both of us exhausted. We were so wiped out that we took took Thursday as a recharge day -- we didn't even leave the house!

As of this writing, we've been in Denmark four full days and have made trips to Copenhagen on three them! It's a bit chilly but absolutely beautiful. Our housesitting assignment is three minutes from the train station, which is about 30 minutes from the center of Copenhagen. It's very easy to get around and explore without being stuck in the middle of the city.

Sunday is the time to go see all the museums in Denmark, as that's the day they are open to the public at no charge. Today, we stopped at the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, which was featuring Egyptian, French, and Roman art pieces. We didn't make it much further, as Evo's back has been tightening up as of late. But he's on medication (did you miss that adventure?) and should be back to normal (?) in a couple of days.

In the meantime, we've found our favorite bar: Charlie's Bar. They have a wide assortment of beers and ciders, all of which we have found to be quite tasty. The staff is quite friendly and the place is full of Danes and expatriates from many places. It's the perfect melting pot!

Tomorrow will be a focused day. We need to spend some quality time catching up on all kinds of neglected emails, work, and general maintenance type stuff that the digital nomad lifestyle provides. Oh, and we probably should work on our accommodations for next week and our mini-break in Brussels, since those are just a few days away.

I've been posting gobs of pictures, and Evo's been bit by the video bug. If you haven't seen either, take a peek. Oh, and we're getting all sorts of good comments on our podcast. Have you listened yet?

Where we're heading next

We've another week in Copenhagen, so you'll get one more update from here. Then it's off to Brussels for a mini-vacation!

Have an enjoyable rest of your week, and we'll catch you up on all our fun and continued exploration of this great city next weekend!
