Unpopular With The Thais & Tattooing The Pickle
/This show is all about changes. Changes in attitude of the local Thais about one crazy foreigner living in their midsts, and changing attitudes about the tattoo culture of Korea. South, not North. Obviously.
Welcome to episode 30! Astute listeners will be aware of the historic relevance of that number for us. The rest of you will just want us to get on with it and tell you what’s happening on this week’s show. Speaking of that:
We have two more stories on today’s show, one from Thailand and one from Korea:
1. Unpopular With The Thais
Music credit: Upbeat Forever by Kevin MacLeod
Something happened last Sunday. We’re not exactly sure what. Time rift? Demonic possession? Whatever it was, it caused the Thai people who live around us react to Evo as if he was a three-headed monster. Or someone to be dealt with very, very carefull. If not outright avoided.
2. Tattooing The Pickle
Music credit: Finding The Balance by Kevin MacLeod
Lots of travelers like to collect ink as a memento of their travels. Tattoos are no longer considered marks of gangsters, drug dealers, or ex cons. They are often true works of art, worn proudly and paid handsomely for. Contrary to what Evo’s grandmother thinks, they’re perfectly acceptable. But that’s not how it happens in Korea. But if Yopickles has anything to say about it, that’ll change soon. She’s a hard core live streamer that Evo follows on Snapchat. As you might imagine, she’s gathered a few odd stories along the way.
And that’s the show!
So yeah… show 30. It’s sort of like when The Doctor gets injured. Next week should be interesting.
Special thanks to Kevin MacLeod of Incompetech.com for the songs used in this episode.

I've been doing a little beta testing for a new service called Tapewrite. You may remember a couple of shows featuring stories from one of their cofounders recently. I'm always interested in how people are innovating around podcasting, and I like a lot of what Tapewrite is doing. I think this player is rather nifty, but I'd appreciate your take on the listen/watching hybrid experience. Feel free to leave a comment.
New episodes of the The Opportunistic Travelers Podcast are available every Tuesday. Of course, Tuesday can be a very different thing depending on where we are in the world. Cheers
